The Sepsi Theatre ShowCase3 Begins
The Andrei Mureșanu Theatre and the Tamási Áron Theatre are organizing the Sepsi Theatre ShowCase event for the third time. The aim is for local performing arts institutions to present their most important new productions to audiences in Sfântu Gheorghe and to guests arriving from several distant countries this year during a week-long cultural event. The Sepsi Theatre ShowCase3 takes place from 23-30 March and, in addition to theatre performances, offers several exhibitions, concerts, and other cultural events to those interested.
On the first day of the festival, the Andrei Mureșanu Theatre will present the premiere of Tiago Rodrigues’s play Tristețe și bucurie în viața girafelor (Sadness and Joy in the Life of Giraffes), followed by Radu Afrim’s Ultimă vară de pace (The Last Peaceful Summer),  the play Scriitoarea (The Writer), based on a drama by Ella Hickson and Robert Icke’s adaptation of Chekhov’s Uncle Vanya.
The Tamási Áron Theatre will present Eugène Ionesco’s Rhinoceros and Radu Afrim’s Commune while M Studio Movement Theatre will present Dirty Dancing, and the Háromszék Dance Theatre will present its dance theatre production Napszentület (Sunset) as part of the Sepsi Theatre ShowCase3. The performances will be accompanied by bilingual subtitles—Hungarian performances will have Romanian and English subtitles, while Romanian performances will have Hungarian and English subtitles.
