We are celebrating the arrival of the New Year with The Chioggia Scuffles
On the last eve of the year and on the door-step of the New Year we are celebrating with Carlo Goldoni’s The Chioggia Scuffles! We offer the production with the thoughts of the director, Sardar Tagirovsky:
Let us imagine a place that is surrounded by the sea. The perspective of the horizon is given. The picture of the rising and setting sun is playing tricks with our imagination. This is all nice and idyllic but not for those living in Chioggia…
We are witnessing a patriarchal society where women are oppressed. Goldoni is leading us without judgement through this magical tale where there are no preciosities or courtesies. We sense the tension between the sexes, we start to understand them and slowly realize that we are no way smarter than them. In this scuffle none of us is saint, each of us is driven by desire and consequently by fear. Who wouldn’t fear of not belonging to someone?
The performance on the New Year’s Eve begins at 6 p.m., the premiere will take place on 3rd January 2018 at 7 p.m.
