We are finally presenting Tóték /The Tóts

After we have been forced to postpone the presentation of István Örkény’s play Tótek/The Tóts twice due to illness, we are now looking forward to the new date of the premiere. According to director László Bocsárdi, Örkény’s grotesque stage play can be considered one of the most significant plays in world literature. It can be eventually seen in the main hall of the Tamási Áron theatre on 21 November at 17.30.

According to director László Bocsárdi, it is a huge opportunity and also a huge challenge for the company to be able to stage this extremely important text in Sepsiszentgyörgy. The play presents the story of the Tóts in an unconventional way. The stage is extremely simple, and perhaps that  can explain  why, in addition to the dramatic text, the short novel can also appear in the production. The “Soul of Örkény” expands the notion of the dramatic time, so the performance can be heard also on a different level than what the play initially assumes. In the main roles, the audience can see László Mátray, Bence Kónya-Ütő, Annamária D. Albu, Zsuzsanna Vass, Gábor Erdei, Levente Nemes and Áron Beczásy. Following the premiere, the Tóts will be shown again on November 23, 24 and 30 in the main hall of the theatre.
