László Bocsárdi received the UNITER Lifelong Achievement Award

The Romanian Theatre Association (UNITER) published the list of theatre creators and works nominated for this year’s UNITER award, as well as the names of the persons to whom the UNITER senate awarded a lifelong achievement award. This year, director László Bocsárdi, deputy director of the Tamási Áron Theatre, will receive the Director’s Lifelong Achievement award.

The list of nominees for this year’s 31st UNITER Gala was made up of the best theatre works and creators of 2022, the members of the nomination jury are Doru Mareș (theatre critic), Maria Miu (set designer), Victor Scoradeț (theatre critic), Iris Spiridon (director) and Carmen Stanciu (theatrologist) were.

The “Ion Caramitru” Award of Excellence, awarded by the UNITER Senate, will be awarded this year by the Interferences International Theatre Festival organized by the Cluj-Napoca State Hungarian Theater, and this year’s UNITER Lifelong Achievement Award winners include actress Ida Jarcsek-Gaza, actor Alexandru Repan, director László Bocsárdi, set designer Carmencita Brojboiu and Doru Mareş, theater critic and theater historian.

László Bocsárdi, the director of our theatre, has been nominated several times for the UNITER Best Director Award of the Romanian Theatre Association – Antigone (2003), Othello, the Moor of Venice (2005), Don Juan (2008), Yvonne, Princess of Burgundy (2009), The Merchant of Venice ( 2010), Caligula (2011), Hamlet (2014), Our Class (2016) – of which Caligula produced at the Marin Sorescu National Theatre in Craiova and Hamlet produced at the Tamási Áron Theatre in Sf. Gheorghe won the Award for Best Director,  and at the Romanian National Theatre in Cluj the performance Our Class won the UNITER award in the Best Performance category.
