The Tamási Áron Theatre renews one of its important plays from the season of 2014/2015. Chekhov’s Cherry Orchard is directed by Sardar Tagirovsky and will be presented in its new form on the 22nd of September from 7 p.m.
The plot revolves around one situation: the widow Madame Ranevsky returns home to her harmonious family estate only to find that the house and the cherry orchard will be sold to clear debts, unless the family can raise sufficient funds. Although described by the writer as a comedy, it deals with themes like solitude, passage of time and the universal powerlessness of the human kind.
The play won the award of the audience on the National Theatre Meeting in Pécs. Three of the actors were also awarded: Tibor Pálffy won the award for the role of Lopahin, while Ágnes Benedek and Bence Kónya-Ütő for the roles of Anya and Yasha.
Sardar Tagorivsky was born in Russia and is now living in Budapest. He is the artistic leader of the Maesteén Company. Interested in experimental theatre, he has had the privilege to learn from Paolo Antonio Simioni, Oleg Zsukovszkij and Tamás Ascher.
