Rehearsing The Threepenny Opera

Our theatre has started the rehearsals of Bertolt Brecht’s The Threepenny Opera. The co-production of the Szeged Open-Air Festival and the Tamási Áron Theatre is considered our most extensive production of recent years.

Brecht’s expressionist play with its amoral heroes and dark romanticism presents the power of wealth in Victorian England. We see a world of betrayal as part of the daily routine, where actions don’t have consequences and the betrayed seeks comfort on the shoulder of the traitor.

As an open air performance The Threepenny Opera will have its premiere on the 2nd of August at Szeged Open-Air Festival. During the following season the play is going to be included in the repertoire of the Tamási Áron Theatre.
