The Tamási Áron Theatre is preparing for an important tour in Bucharest, where it will present two performances as part of the National Theatre Festival (FNT), now in its 35th edition.
On Wednesday the FNT audience will see Viktor Bodó’s The Tempest, and on Friday László Bocsárdi’s An Angel Comes to Babylon.
The FNT is the most complex and prestigious theatre event in Romania, and the curatorial team for the 35th edition consists of Raluca Cîrciumaru (theatre critic), Alina Epîngeac (theatre critic), and Ionuț Sociu (playwright and cultural journalist). For the first time in the history of FNT, the festival also has an “associated artist,” in the person of Radu Afrim. According to the organizers, the presence of director Radu Afrim as an associated artist contributes to the organic integration of the latest theatrical initiatives into the modular structure of the Festival. Although he does not participate in the selection of performances, the associate artist has the freedom to imagine and build his own module within the Festival, reflecting his artistic intentions and sensibility.
This year’s FNT program includes 39 theatre performances, six of which are in Hungarian.
