August Strindberg
Ms. Julie with scenes from Tarkovsky
August Strindberg’s Miss Julie unfolds the love games between a woman and a man. In the course of one night repressed desires and passions come to surface. We are witnesses to the countess’ attempts to seduce her valet, to their encounters and later to their mutual defeat. The text receives a very strong visuality in the direction of Botond Nagy as a means of communicating the characters’ emotional ambivalence. Inspired images, scenes and atmosphere from the movies of Tarkovsky strengthen the main dramaturgical line of the performance.
