The fourth award gala of the cultural and theatrical magazine “Rinocerul” (Rinoceros) was held in Bucharest, organised by the “Spirit Românesc Pro – Arte şi Caritate” Foundation and the “I. L. Caragiale” National Theatre, where Oxygen, directed by Tibor Pálffy won the award for the Best Multimedia Performance of the “2022-2023 period”.
“This award is a good feeling for us because it shows that we are experimenting in the right direction. The Romanian Theatre Association (UNITER) usually awards large-scale, big-budget productions by renowned directors, while this cultural magazine tries to draw attention to productions that are not necessarily successful, but rather experimental, alternative and innovative. In fact, the aim of any artistic creation should be to be innovative, to speak in a way that others have not yet managed to do, and if our work is recognized in this way by a renowned cultural magazine, we cannot be but happy”, said Tibor Pálffy, commenting on the award.
“Rinocerul” is a cultural and theatrical magazine founded in October 2019 and published by the “Spirit Românesc Pro – Arte şi Caritate” Foundation in Bucharest. The magazine is self-proclaimed as a non-conformist publication, with up-to-date reviews and reports on performances in Bucharest and other public and independent theatres in the country, as well as artist portraits, reviews and performance reviews. They aim to promote the contemporary theatre canon by presenting new, powerful and interesting productions.
