Our New Season

Our theatre starts its 71st season with a grandiose production premiere. Bertolt Brecht’s Threepenny Opera directed by László Bocsárdi was already presented at Szeged Open-Air Festival on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th of August 2019. The play, considered to be one of the most extensive productions of recent years will premiere on the 8th of October in Sepsiszentgyörgy.

Two productions, which will premiere in the new theatre season, are based on the idea of teamwork. The first is dedicated to the memory of the Hungarian poet Sándor Kányádi, the other thinks further the contemporary Russian play Illusion by Ivan Viripaev, asking fundamental questions on love, friendship and human relationships in general.

Our company says farewell to the year of 2019 with a guest performance from Budapest. The Monarchy Operetta Company aims to revitalize the genre of the operetta with the help of young talents, while conserving the Hungarian national and cultural heritage. As another guest performance from Szatmárnémeti, the audience will have the opportunity to see Scapin fom Molière, performed by the Northern Theatre Harag György Company, directed by László Bocsárdi. Familiar directors also reappear in the program of this season: Radu Afrim, Bálint Botos and Máté Hegymegi have already worked with our company in the previous season and have proven to have a unique, experimental theatrical language. In the upcoming season, our theatre ceases its season tickets with a wish to ease and loosen up the possibilities of going to the theatre.
