Moliére’s The Miser will be the opening performance of the 8th edition of the Interethnic Theatre Festival in Satu Mare. The travelling biennial festival is the showcase of the Romanian minority theatres. Beside the Hungarian theatres from Transilvania, the German Theatre from Sibiu will be present, together with the Giuvlipen Theatre from Bucharest and the State Jewish Theatre from Bucharest.
“We became quite close to the world of Moliére, who introduces us with elegance and great witticism the milieu of the bourgeoisie, its twists and human stumblings. The reason why the comedies of Moliére are so brilliant is because the characters are Moliére’s alteregos. The equal mixture of humour, self-irony and the unexpected tragic perspective is what makes this piece maybe the most important comedy of theatre literature.” – says László Bocsárdi, director.
